Township Assessor/Trustees

LaPorte County is divided into 21 townships. Each township has an elected assessor who works with the County Assessor to maintain fair and accurate property assessment information. In smaller townships the Township Assessor also serves as the Township Trustee. (See list below)

The annual date of assessment is March 1st. On this date, the total value of each person's real and personal property is assessed for tax levy purposes for the current year.

PERSONAL PROPERTY values are determined every year using self-assessment forms. These forms are mailed out in March of each year and must be returned by May 15th. If you do not receive a form, they are available in the Township Assessor's office or the LaPorte County Assessor's Office. The forms may be returned to the Township Trustee, or the County Assessor.

REAL PROPERTY (land and structures) are reassessed whenever a change is made, or a least every four years
