Center
Visiting Policy:
Level 1 residents are allowed
one visit per resident per week.
Level 2 residents are allowed
two visits per resident per week.
Level 3 and Level 4 residents
are allowed three visits per resident per
week.
People allowed to visit are:
- Parents/legal guardians
and children when accompanied by parent/guardian
of juvenile (unless visits have been revoked
by the Judge, Probation or Juvenile Detention.
- Level 4 residents can visit
with siblings but they must be accompanied
by resident’s parents/guardians.
- Parent, Grandparent, siblings
can visit on the evening prior to resident’s
placement departure.
If parents will not visit the
resident together (divorce, separated, ect.)
the following options are available:
- Parents can split the visiting
time.
- Parents can alternate visits.
(One can visit one week and the other
can visit the next week.
It is the responsibility of
the parents to make the visiting arrangements.
Staff will schedule a visit for the first
parent that calls and will not make additional
calls to the other parent.
Residents have the right to
refuse to visit with parent(s). If this
is the case, the resident will have to inform
the parent her/himself.
Scheduling appointments (visits)
must be scheduled one day prior to or the
same day as the visit. The telephone number
is 873-0036 or 324-5130.
Letter Policy:
No letters will be accepted
unless sent through the United States Mail.
Notes or letters are not accepted at the
door of the JDC or at Court.

Residents are furnished envelopes
and stamps per week as follows:
Level 1 (1) Stamp and envelope
Level 2 (2) Stamps and envelopes
Level 3 (3) Stamps and envelopes
Level 4 (4) Stamps and envelopes
Transport:
Every time a resident is transported
outside the Center, he/she will be transported
in hand cuffs.
Phone Policy:
Residents are not to receive
any incoming phone calls from parents/guardian.
Personal calls:
Level 4 (4) 10 minute
calls
Level 3 (3) 5 minute calls
Level 1 & 2 (2) 5 minute calls
A resident may only call parents
or legal guardian but can speak to anyone
at the legal residence.
Phone call times:
Daily 7:00pm to 8:00pm
Phone calls can be revoked
by the Judge, Probation, or Juvenile Detention
Staff.
Business Calls:
- A resident is allowed three
phone calls per week during regular business
hours at a time designated by the staff
on duty.
- A resident may call any
Attorney, Probation Officer, D.P.W. or
other approved persons professionally
involved.
Any exceptions to the
above policies must be approved by the Assistant
Director of Secure Programming.
Trafficking with an inmate:
Indiana Code S35-44-3-9 (Burns
Supp. 1977)
A person who, without the prior
authorization of the person in charge of
a penal facility, knowingly or intentionally….
1. …delivers or carries
into the penal facility with intent to deliver
an article to an inmate of the facility;
or
2. …carries or receives with intent
to carry out of the penal facility, an article
from an inmate of the facility;
commits trafficking with an
inmate, a Class A misdemeanor. However,
the offense is a Class D felony if the article
is a controlled substance or a deadly weapon.
Penalty:
Class A Misdemeanor 0 to 1
year (Terms of Imprisonment) $5,000.00 (Maximum
Fine)
Or
Class D Felony 2 years (+2)
or 2 to 4 years (Terms of Imprisonment)
$10,000.00 (Maximum Fine)
Cigarettes and matches are
contraband
Smoking is strictly prohibited
inside the Juvenile Detention Center
Visitors may be subject to
search prior to and after a visit per ACA
