Treasurer: Real Estate Tax Sale

All parcels that have a balance due from spring of the prior year or before are tentatively scheduled for Tax Sale. There are several deadlines for making payments, with increasing amounts due. A $85.00 tax sale charge is added to the amount due, and all names are published in the local newspapers.

Taxpayers may pay the amount due up to the day before the Tax Sale. There will be no payments accepted the day of the sale before the sale begins. La Porte County will hold the 2006 tax sale on October 6th, 2006 starting at 10:00 AM. It will be held in the conference rooms of the La Porte County Complex, ground floor 809 State Street, La Porte, IN 46350.

Bidders register prior to start of sale. The minimum bid is everything owed on the parcel thru the current year. High bid wins, and the bid amount must be paid in the Treasurer's office on the day of sale, during office hours.
